"Honey," I said, "do you know what today is?"
He stared at me for a moment, obviously madly calculating possible dates. "It's not your birthday," he said confidently.
"No," I replied, "It's not my birthday."
The wheels in his head began spinning again as he tried to figure out what was up. Suddenly, the light went on. "Um ... if it's November 14th, I know what today is," he ventured.
"It's not November 14th," I assured him.
"Oh good!" he looked relieved.
"But November 14th is coming right up, so this is your reminder."
He grinned at me. "Okay, cool, thanks."
"Because, you know," I went on, "this is becoming like an annual joke on my blog -- how we're always forgetting our anniversary. That's two years in a row now, and people are laughing at us."
He giggled and gave me a hug. Now, what do you want to bet that even after that, we're STILL going to forget our anniversary this year?
I will simply say that I am not giving good odds.
